Linking the Dots; Beating the Odds

This is my new blog - Linking the Dots; Beating the Odds. The content will display my own opinions and inner thoughts - based on my observations and experiences with the media (well, I'll be inviting some contributors soon). But at the moment this new blog will try to gather as many readers as possible.

Sapiently, the subtitle reads Credible, Non-Credible and the Incredible (or incredulous if you prefer) and this refers to news and information, of course. You can read the context of the subtitle on the side bar of the blog.

This current blog - usmcampusnews - will remain as it is, reporting on the dates of publication of Berita Kampus and anticipating responses from its readers (which is a bit slow at the moment, no doubt).

Nonetheless, we sincerely hope with the existence and maintenance of this main blog, readers will have a platform to give their piece of mind on the publication of BK. We will not moderate any comments, complaints, criticisms or suggestions.

Jemputan Perbincangan mengenai BERITA KAMPUS

Ini adalah weblog rasmi "BERITA KAMPUS", sebuah penerbitan pelajar Kewartawanan, Pusat Pengajian Komunikasi USM. Jika anda masih baru dengan USM dan tidak biasa dengan kewujudan akhbar ini, berikut adalah kenyataan penafiannya: Berita Kampus adalah sebuah akhbar makmal penuntut tahun akhir pengkhususan Kewartawanan, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Ia bukan pendirian dan pandangan rasmi USM.

Dalam kata lain, Berita Kampus adalah sebuah akhbar dwi-bahasa, diterbitkan 2 kali sebulan, 6 kali setiap semester. Akhbar dalaman ini diterbitkan oleh pelajar Kewartawanan dengan bantuan Pusat Pengajian Komunikasi, USM. Penerbitan akhbar saiz tabloid ini adalah satu landasan untuk melatih pelajar tahun akhir jurusan Kewartawanan dan juga pelajar tahun akhir Komunikasi Pemujukan dalam bidang kemahiran dan major masing-masing.

Blog ini mengalu-alukan pendapat, pandangan, komen atau kritikan dalam dwi-bahasa (Bahasa Melayu dan Bahasa Inggeris). Semua pandangan tidak akan ditapis. Namun demikian, kami akan mengeluarkan pendapat yang keterlaluan atau menyunting teguran yang tidak sopan. Oleh itu, beri pandangan dan idea bernas anda dalam bentuk tulisan dan lenggok bahasa yang sopan dan yang mencerminkan budaya USM.

Bidang tumpuan penyelidikan Pusat Pengajian Komunikasi, USM ialah di dalam komunikasi persekitaran. Ini bermakna kami mengamal dan menggalakkan kelestarian persekitaran daripada apa jenis pencemaran. Kami menganggap pandangan yang tidak berkualiti sebagai pencemaran bahasa, salah satu daripada pencemaran komunikasi. Oleh itu, anda boleh membantu menyelamatkan persekitaran ruang siber ini dengan memberi pandangan dan idea yang bermutu, sayugia mencerminkan status USM sebagai universiti APEX.

Pandangan yang tidak bernama (anonymous) tidak digalakkan, tetapi ia bergantung kepada betapa baik dan seriusnya pandangan tersebut. Jika anda mempunyai pandangan yang baik tetapi masih mahu melontarkan pendapat tanpa mendedahkan identiti anda, gunakan nama samaran supaya orang lain boleh mudah merujuk kembali kepada pendapat itu.

Bagaimanapun, jika anda rasa idea dan pandangan anda sangat baik dan ia perlu diterbitkan, sila catatkan nama penuh dan nombor yang boleh kami hubungi. Pendapat dan pandangan yang bernas perlu dikongsi dalam media yang bersesuaian supaya ia boleh dijadikan tauladan.

Anda boleh mendapatkan isu-isu lama BERITA KAMPUS (jika masih ada) daripada saya di Pusat Pengajian Komunikasi USM, Bangunan C10, tel. no. 04-6534960. Sambungan di dalam USM ialah 4960.

Invitation to USM School of Communication's BERITA KAMPUS or CAMPUS NEWS

This is an official weblog of the USM's journalism student in-house newspaper "BERITA KAMPUS". So, if you are new to USM and are unfamiliar with what the newspaper is all about, this is the disclaimer of the paper: Berita Kampus is a laboratory newspaper by the final year journalism students of the School of Communication, USM. Its contents and views are not the official viewpoints of the university.

In another way, Berita Kampus is a bi-language, twice monthly, six publication per semester in-house news bulletin, published by the Journalism students with the support of School of Communication, USM. The tabloid size newspaper is meant as a platform to train final year journalism and persuasive communication students of the school in their respective major of expertise.

This blog is open to opinions, suggestions, comments or criticism both in BM and English. All comments will not be moderated. However, we will delete uncalled for comments and send them where they rightly belong. So, please save USM's bandwidth by posting comments or ideas that are of substance.

The School of Communication's niche area is on environment communication. In order to save the environment from any pollution, text messages that are of no substance are considered pollution. So, you can help save the environment's wellbeing by posting messages that are worth your salt and USM's status as an APEX university.

Anonymous comments are not really welcome, but it depends (on how good your opinions are). If you have a good idea but would prefer to hide your identity, you must include a nick or a first name when you post a comment so that others can identify you when they want to refer to your comments.

Nonetheless, if you think your ideas and suggestions are very good and they need to get published in print, please include your full name and contact number. Brilliant ideas should be widely shared among different audiences so that it can set a good example to others.
